摘要
A modified three-dimensional model to determine soil resistance has been established from the McKyes-Ali model. The model is based upon minimizing the total soil resistance to determine the failure angle beta rather than only the soil gravity component. The proposed methodology optimized mathematical formulation, reduced calculation time, and eliminated the use of charts for obtaining various coefficients required for prediction of soil cutting resistance. This procedure also resulted in more accurate prediction of soil resistance based on modified simple wedge and the two wedges models when compared with the results from the McKyes-Ali model.
