摘要
Mitochondrial DNA variation is compared with variation of chromosome structure, in two subspecies of Caledia captiva (F.) (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Acridinae). One subspecies is widespread, is conservative in chromosome structure, but has considerable geographic variation of mitochondrial DNA. In the other, mitochondrial DNA shows very little differentiation, but each chromosome shows concordant clines in the position of its centromere. We argue that data discussed here suggest the action of natural selection on the physical structure of chromosomes and karyotype organization.
