A new flow-mixing apparatus for the measurement of the excess molar enthalpy HEm of fluids at pressures up to 30 MPa is described. The apparatus has been used to measure HEm for (0.5H2O + 0.5CO2) at temperatures from 598.2 K to 698.2 K at pressures in the range 10 MPa to 20 MPa. The measurements are well fitted using a cubic equation of state which was originally developed to fit properties of (steam + an n-alkane). © 1994 Academic Press Ltd.
