The present communication is concerned with a numerical investigation of the flowfield around bypass engines. The solution method is based on a finite volume discretization of the three-dimensional Euler-equations for compressible, inviscid flows. A brief survey of the grid generation method and the solution algorithm is given with special regard to the boundary conditions for the engine simulation. Realistic operational engine conditions are calculated by taking into account the fan inlet mass flow, the pressure and total temperature ratio of the jet. As an example for a flow calculation an investigation of a high bypass engine under cruise and low speed conditions is discussed.
