摘要：

The survey describes industrial processes for the production of light olefins emphasizing on C-4 hydrocarbons. Value chains in the petrochemical and the oil refining industry are strongly interrelated with regards to olefin production. An account is given on the production and the consumption volumes of the various C-4 hydrocarbons on a global basis, including an outlook for alternative, petrochemical and bio- based processes for the production of C-4 olefins.
