The article deals with peculiarities of organizing efficient communication in modern educational institutions. On the basis of scientific researches, we have proved the importance and necessity of efficient functioning of communications in the educational institution and presented a modern understanding of management communications. Efficient communication is considered to be a goal-seeking interaction, which is focused on the understanding of a conversation partner, means of which provide establishing and development of contacts, positive relations, learning personal features etc. It is noted that communication in an institution is subdivided into formal and informal. Principles of managing formal and informal communication are ascertained and some differences between them are shown. Special attention is focused on the information, which is spread within an institution in a form of gossip. We allocated and analyzed the following functions of organization of efficient communication process: providing information, motivation of educational institution members, control and coordinating of some employees' efforts. It is stated that electronic mass media communication devices have a great impact on communications in educational establishments. Information technologies can use computers, computer nets, telephones and other devices. The latest advances in the field of information technologies provide improvement of information exchange in educational institutions. It was emphasized, that the process of communication is greatly affected by communication barriers (psychological disturbances, which are set by a human in order to defend oneself from undesired, boring or dangerous information). The main problems and difficulties, which modern education managers face, while organizing communications in the educational area, are revealed. We submitted the following directions of advancing organization of efficient communications in educational institutions: regulating information flows, development of information gathering systems with the objective of ensuring data distribution form low levels up and lowering the filtration; improving the management acts; advancing systems of feedback; using modern information technologies etc. It was concluded, that since a manager performs all the management activities and executes management functions in order to formulate organization goals and reach them, the quality of information exchange directly influences the level of goal realization.
