PHOTOCHEMICAL-REACTION OF C-60 IN THE PRESENCE OF TRIETHYLAMINE IN TOLUENE

摘要
The steady-state photoirradiation of C60 in the presence of triethylamine (TEA) in toluene solution was found to induce a photochemical reaction to give a stable product. Nanosecond transient absorption studies have revealed that triethylamine quenches C60 in the S1 state with the rate constant of (6.2+/-0.5) x 10(9) M-1 s-1 to yield an exciplex, which has an absorption spectrum similar to that of the T-T absorption of C60. This exciplex seems to react with C60 in the ground state to give a stable photoproduct.
