摘要
The technique of closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering has been adapted to allow coating of irregularly shaped components by barrel plating. The internal geometry of the barrel has been developed to ensure uniformity of coating thickness and composition both over the surface of a single component and between components in any batch. Examples are shown of aircraft fasteners coated with aluminium-magnesium alloys.
