摘要
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a treatment developed by Marsha Linehan for individuals with several suicidal attempts and diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). DBT is a "third wave"treatment, because it combines behavioral techniques with Mindfulness and dialectical philosophy. At the moment there are 7 randomized controlled trials that point out the efficacy of DBT in the treatment in BPD. DBT has shown effectiveness in the reduction of several symptoms associated with the disorder such us: self mutilation, suicidal attempts, suicidal ideation, depression, and bulimic behavior. The aim of this article is to explain the theoretical basis of DBT and the treatment approach. Finally, we compare DBT to standard cognitive-behavioral therapy.
