STRUCTURE OF THE CIS ISOMER OF A 6-MEMBERED PHOSPHORUS PHENYLHYDRAZINE RING

3,6-Bis(methylthio)-1,4-diphenyl-3,6-dithioxo-1,2,4,5-tetraaza-3-lambda-5,6-lambda-5-diphosphorinane crystallizes with two solvent molecules of acetonitrile, C14H18N4P2S4.2CH3CN, M(r) = 514.64, monoclinic, C2/c, a = 12.118 (8), b = 13.452 (10), c = 15.608 (4) angstrom, beta = 98.22 (4)-degrees, V = 2518 angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(x) = 1.353 Mg m-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 4.64 mm-1, F(000) = 1072, T = 293 K, R = 0.038 for 2513 unique observed reflections with I greater-than-or-equal-to 2-sigma(I). The molecules of the title compound have point symmetry 2. In accordance with the cis stereochemistry of the methythio substituents the six-membered ring adopts a twist conformation; torsion angles PNNP +67.87 (3), NNPN -45.81 (3) and NPNN -19.73 (1)-degrees.
