摘要
One of the most important topics in sociological theory and the social sciences in general has been social inequality. In this area, those approaches that permit an empirical analysis as well as a theoretical reflection stand out. The first part of this paper reviews the so-called "relational perspective", within which two classical approaches exist: the neo-Weberian and the neo-Marxist approach. Within the neo-Weberian approach, John Goldthorpe's proposal for empirical studies of social classes is analyzed. In the second part, a critical analysis of the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-88) is presented. A concept of classes is constructed based on that classification of occupations, thereby attempting to apply the proposal of J.Goldthorpe.
