摘要
A dual-phase steel has been subjected to several degrees of plastic deformation at room temperature. The amount of retained austenite-gamma transformed into martensite alpha' has been monitored by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The deformation was introduced by uniaxial strain from 0% to 15%, and biaxial strain from 20% to 50%. The austenite variation is compared with a similar phase transformation occurring in an AISI 304 stainless steel. Transmission electron microscopy was used to search for shear band intersections and other microscopic features able to initiate the martensite formation mechanism.
