摘要
The disystem is presented as an alternative paradigm for cognition. The disystem's bilateral symmetry is posed as the goal and mechanism of thoughtful biology. The inadequacy of the functional approach to representation is contrasted with the richness of the biophysical model. Computational and memory implications for symmetry are discussed. Experimental PET data is presented to explain the current functionalist trend and offer an alternative explanation for their results. Based on the experiments, evidence suggests the mechanism of symmetry to be pervasive. The implications of the disystem are presented by conjecture. Conflict resolution is proposed as another arena to apply the disystem concepts.
