PHYSICAL HAZARDS FROM START-UP TO MANUFACTURING

Biotechnology workers are at some risk for exposure to a wide range of hazardous agents and materials, from biological organisms to radioactive substances to toxic chemicals to the end-products of biotechnology itself. Less attention has been focused on another set of issues with significant effect on the health of biotechnology workers, namely the physical hazards associated with laboratory research and subsequent scale-up to large-scale production.
