THE INVESTIGATION OF A NEGATIVE HYDROGEN-ION SOURCE

摘要
A multicusp volume-produced H- ion source is described. The source chamber is 10 cm in diameter. The dependence of extracted H- current on arc current, arc voltage, gas pressure, and a filter's magnetic field has been investigated. It is found that a filter's magnetic field has a significant effect on the extracted electron current. A 4.4 mA H- beam has been obtained at 3.2 kW arc power; the density of the corresponding current is 6.9 mA/cm2.
