CHARGE-TRANSFER MULTIPLET IN THE L-ALPHA X-RAY-EMISSION SPECTRA OF COPPER(II) COMPOUNDS

摘要
The multiplet structure of electron or X-ray excited L-alpha X-ray emission spectra of divalent copper compounds is interpreted. The present analysis indicates that the L-alpha main peak corresponds to the 2p(5)3d10 --> 2p(6)3d9 transition between the charge-transfer states and the high energy shoulder to the 2p(5)3d9 --> 2p(6)3d8 transition, split into many lines due to the exchange interaction. The chemical effect is also predicted within the presented charge-transfer mechanism. A method for studying the covalency of copper(II) compounds from the L-alpha X-ray emission spectra is described.
