摘要
Excitation spectra of rare earth ions doped into LaF3 and YF3 were recorded in the UV and VUV energy range using synchrotron radiation. For Eu3+, Er3+ and Dy3+, f-d transitions as well as charge transfer bands were localized. Transitions involving electrons of the host such as the gap energy between the valence and conduction bands were measured.
