La2-xBaxSr1-xYxCu2O6 (0≤x≤0.5) solid solutions, M1.9Sr1.1Cu2O6 (M = La, Pr, Nd) and other substituted La-Ba-Sr-Y-Cu-O compounds of the La2SrCu2O6 structure have been prepared and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The changes in physical properties upon either substitution or oxygen annealing of various samples are presented. Possible reasons for the absence of superconductivity in these compounds which possess a structure closely related to many known high-Tc materials are discussed. © 1990.
