ACCELERATION OF ITERATIVE PROCEDURES FOR THE ELASTOPLASTIC FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD

摘要
This paper presents an acceleration technique based on an energy criterion for elasto-plastic finite element analysis. The basic concept of the energy criterion is described and subsequently an accelerator is obtained by using a simple assumption for the load-displacement response. The accelerator is implemented in an elasto-plastic finite element program. Two numerical test examples with the finite element program indicate that using the acceleration technique, more than 30% saving in the total number of multiplications is possible. The saving becomes more significant when the non-linearity is more severe.
