New digital transmission systems, (DCS) IKM-30-4, IKM-120U, IKM-480R, optical transmission systems Sopka-2.3, Sopka-4, Sonata-2 and others are being introduced in the national communications network. The development of DCS IKM-480S for major trunk routes is being completed. For normal functioning of digital transmission systems, equipment is required which allows accurate and rapid evaluation of the quality of the transmission equipment during installation, testing and operation. A microprocessor system for automatic testing of a DCS line channel is described. The system has been tested in a commercial environment in Lithuania and Belorussia. Most of the equipment used in the system is mass-produced. Familiarization with them can be useful in introducing the monitoring system, and hence the effective adjustment and use of line channels in digital communications systems.
