CONCENTRATION OF DATA MODELS - FROM PROJECT DATA MODELS TO AN ENTERPRISE-WIDE DATA ARCHITECTURE

摘要
Data modelling as a method for specification of information systems is widely accepted. The size and complexity of the resulting data models is a handicap to the adequate use as representation of global information structures and in supporting application integration. We describe methods and procedures of a tool supported data model abstraction. Starting with the basic data model we produce consistent concentration levels. A pragmatic evaluation also yields to a hierarchical structure of the object types giving a particularly simple survey of the information area. With these methods and procedures it is possible to meet the integrative and strategic tasks of data management.
