摘要
NMR techniques play an important role in the characterization of many materials that are the subject of intellectual property protection. This article presents a brief overview of intellectual property protection with a focus on the international patent system and the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries. The use of NMR and MRI data to support patent applications is discussed, and key considerations for the use of both solution-state and solid-state NMR data are presented.
