ACCUMULATION OF MONOSACCHARIDES IN LICHEN MYCOBIONTS CULTURED UNDER OSMOTIC CONDITIONS

摘要
Sugar accumulation was examined in three species of lichen mycobionts cultured on osmotic media. Large quantities of glucose, fructose, mannitol, and arabitol were detected in all mycobionts cultured on media with high concentrations of sucrose. However fructose was not detected in mycobionts grown on media with glucose instead of sucrose. The quantities of accumulated monosaccharides in mycobionts increased parallel to the quantity of sugar added to the medium, though there were no differences in concentrations of polyols among mycobionts grown on media with various quantities of sucrose.
