摘要
Laser desorption time-of-flight mass spectrometry of substituted dodecahedranes has shown strong evidence, in the case of C20H18Br2, for the occurrence of an oligomerisation reaction to produce chains of up to five linked dodecahedrane molecules. Under laser desorption conditions these oligomers can rearrange, eliminating all hydrogen atoms to produce fullerenes.
