INVESTIGATIONS ON THE VISCOSITY OF LIQUID GE-TE ALLOYS

Using an oscillating crucible viscosimeter, the viscosities of tellerium-rich liquid germanium - tellurium alloys especially near the eutectic concentration have been measured in the temperature range from 1025 K to the respective liquidus temperature. Considering the behaviour of the viscosity and the activation energy of viscous flow in dependence on the temperature and on the concentration, respectively, the existence of associates has been deduced and their volume portion has been calculated. The results were compared to other properties found in literature and were discussed.
