This was an 8-week educational community gardening intervention for produce-related lifestyle and behavioral changes for individuals with or at risk for diabetes and living in a rural Appalachian county. It consisted of 3 educational components-gardening, nutrition, and culinary. Each weekly session included a "Walk & Talk," a one-mile walk with a discussion of the nutrition and gardening topics for the week, followed by development of gardening skills (ie, plant identification, composting, organic practices) at the garden plot. Resources (eg, recipes, produce cards) were provided to further knowledge of produce utilization.
