In problems concerning the propagation of an exothermal reaction front in mixtures of solid substances, the thermophysical parameters of the system are usually assumed to be constant. However, due to large temperature differentials and physicochemical transformations in the combustion wave, which change the composition and the structure of the reaction system, they can vary considerably. The purpose of this paper is, first, to estimate the effect of the variability of the thermal conductivity lambda and the heat capacity c on the basic characteristics of a stationary wave of gas-free combustion (velocity of propagation, width of the reaction zone, distribution of temperature and degree of transformation) and, second, to determine the values of the constants lambda and c that should be used instead of the variable quantities in approximate calculations.
