摘要
Objective: We examined sexual safety of first-time sex with someone after sexting them (FTSAS) in a mostly African-American/black (black) college population. Methods: First-year students (N = 213) at a rural, mid-Atlantic, historically black college (HBC) completed a self-administered survey. Results: We calculated adjusted odds ratios (AOR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). FTSAS was independently correlated with number of sexual partners (AOR = 3.20, CI = 1.65-6.20), sex under the influence (AOR = 2.69, CI = 1.21-5.97), and unwanted sex (AOR = 3.57, CI = 1.07-11.95). Conclusions: FTSAS was independently associated with having experienced unwanted sex and sexually transmitted infection risks. First-year students at an HBC, and likely, other college, first-year students who have FTSAS, may warrant educator, clinician, and researcher attention to address their potentially increased sexual risk.
