摘要
Plastic film converters need to know the wetting tension of a polymer surface to ensure good coating and print quality and adhesion of laminated films. The ASTM Standard Test Method D2578-84, ''Wetting Tension of Polyethylene and Polypropylene Films,'' which relies on dyne liquids, does not meet the requirements of reproducibility and repeatability. This paper examines the theory of surface tension measurements and investigates the contact angle of water droplets as a measure of wetting surface tension. The water contact angle test is proposed for process and quality control of corona-treated films.
