摘要
The electrochemical adsorption of 1,1,1,trichloroethane on Pt in sulphuric acid was studied by on-line mass spectrometry. The adsorption is highest in the hydrogen region suggesting a reductive adsorption process. About 75% of the adsorbate can be desorbed cathodically; the products being ethane, butane and, to minor degree, hexane and possibly higher alkanes. The ratio of these products depends on the adsorption potential. The only oxidation product is CO2. H/D-exchange experiments suggest that the adsorbate is an ethylidyne species.
