DRELL-YAN DIMUON PRODUCTION WITH TRANSVERSELY POLARIZED PROTONS

摘要：
We carefully study dimuon production by transversely polarized protons. It is shown that this process should provide a good tool to uncover the parton distributions of the transversely polarized proton. In particular we calculate the O(alpha(s)) corrections to the total Drell-Yan cross section and the rapidity differential cross section and find that the respective cross section asymmetries are rather stable.
