A field investigation was carried out during the rainy seasons of 1986 and 1987 to study the effect of spraying of photosynth (paras, contains mixtalol) and growth-regulator (Planofix) on the growth and yield of direct-seeded 'IET 1444' ('Rasi') rice (Oryza sativa L.). Spraying of agro-chemical did not influence remarkably the growth characters like height of the plant, leaf-area index at different growth stages, but influenced significantly the yield attributes and yield of rice. All the characters increased markedly when the crop was sprayed 2 times with photosynth and 2 times with Planofix @ 5.0 and 0.25 ml/litre water at 30, 50 and 40, 60 days after sowing.
