This article is a study on performance practice aspects of Villa-Lobos' Trio (1921) for oboe, clarinet and bassoon, concentrating especially on the bassoon part. It presents an interpretation of the work according to subliminal information that is helpful in providing a better understanding of the musical text. The article also considers the influence of Brazilian popular and traditional music practices in the composition of this work.
