SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF AZINTAMIDE IN SOME PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS

摘要
A spectrophotometric method for the determination of 2-[(6-chloro-3-pyridazinyl)thio]-N,N-diethylacetamide, azintamide, [choleretic] in pure form and in some of its pharmaceutical formulations, is described. On heating azintamide solution with a solution of p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde solution in 7 mol/kg sulfuric acid, a yellow color developed with an absorption maximum at 450 nm. The obtained results were compared with those obtained by a direct UV-spectrometry at 258 nm. The method was sensitive and gave accurate results with average percentage mean recoveries of 100.16 .+-. 1.1, 99.84 .+-. 1.0 and 100.30 .+-. 1.4 for the drug, dispensed in 2 tablet forms and as effervescent granules. The direct UV-method was not applicable in the case of the effervescent granules. Absorption vs. concentration was found linear up to 0.55 g .cntdot. l-1 of the drug.
