摘要
Organotypic slice cultures provide an excellent system for the analysis of axonal connectivity and development. However, the study of the molecular mechanisms of this development necessitates the use of a chemically defined culture medium. We report here the development of a medium, EOL1 defined medium, designed specifically for this purpose. Cultures of both cerebral cortex and basal forebrain demonstrate that this defined medium allows a high degree of cytoarchitectural maintenance while promoting neural metabolism and process outgrowth. © 1990.
