摘要
There are two types of sites where aggregate rays in Quercus ithaburensis Decne. and Q. calliprinos Webb do not occur naturally in the tree: branch junctions and small ridges of wood. Partial girdling of Quercus trunks resulted in the dispersion of aggregate rays which diffused into numerous simple rays. The breakup of aggregate rays following partial girdling is not a typical wound response since wounding is known to stimulate ray enlargement. The disaggregation of the huge rays reflects changes in the relationship between axial and radial signal flows. © 1991 Annals of Botany Company.
