摘要
Background. The Swedish health care system is treated as exemplary by many European countries. Family medicine plays a significant role in it. Objectives. The aim of the study was to present health care system in Sweden and to find out which aspects can be transferred to Polish system. Results. Description of the Swedish health care system is based on data from literature and research conducted by the authors. A family doctor is a fundamental part of the Swedish medical system. The following aspects have impact on its functioning: increased competence of doctors and nurses, multi-disciplinary team, better organized working hours of practice, prophylactic projects. The number of daily admitted patients is significantly lower. New technology is used to contact patients, store documentation and data of patients. Specialist consultation via telephone are available for GP, which makes diagnosis and therapy much easier. Health care is financed from central sources and additional payments by patient. Conclusions. 1. Family physician has more time for a patient in everyday practice. 2. Broader competences of nurses and social staff decrease the load of administrative and simple medical issues in GP practice. 3. Friendly daily routine as well as possibility of telephone consultations with a specialist significantly improve GP everyday practice.
