WAR IN CUBA AND THE PHILIPPINES: GROUND FIGHTING

In the last third of 19th century, three wars of emancipation, which ended with another one between Spain and the United States, led to the independence of Cuba. In 1896 the situation became more critical because of Philippine natives' insurrection. The adverse conclusion of all these conflicts caused the total loss of the rests of the once outstanding Spanish Empire. This article will pay specific attention to the combats and military operations that took place at land, and especially to those fought in Cuba and Luzon territories from 1895 to 1898, duly enlightened through their politic, military and operative context.
