摘要
The problem of two dimensional steady state heat flow in the stator of induction motor is solved using finite element formulation and employing arch shaped elements in the r(theta) of the cylindrical co-ordinate system. The shape functions and exact solution matrices are derived algebraically for utmost economy in computation. The temperature distribution has been determined considering convection from the stator frame and the cylindrical air-gap surface. Finally the temperatures obtained by this two-dimensional approximation have been compared with the actual temperatures obtained by three dimensional analysis.
