EPR STUDY OF CU2+ IONS IN FERROELECTRIC RB2ZNCL4 SINGLE-CRYSTALS

摘要
EPR spectra attributed to Cu2+ paramagnetic ions have been observed below T = 130 K, in the low-temperature ferroelectric phase of as grown Rb2ZnCl4 single crystals doped in the melt with CuCl2. Their concentration is strongly increased by subsequent X- or gamma-ray irradiation at room temperature. The analysis of the EPR spectra shows the Cu2+ ions to be situated at the distorted, tetrahedrally coordinated Zn2+ sites.
