ELECTRON-CAPTURE BY A FULLY STRIPPED ION FROM 2-ELECTRON ATOMIC AND IONIC TARGETS IN THE COULOMB-BORN APPROXIMATION

摘要
The Coulomb-Born approximation has been formulated for the capture of a single electron, initially bound to a two-electron atomic or ionic target of nuclear charge Z(T), by a fully stripped ion of nuclear charge Z(P). This approximation is applied in the post and prior forms to calculate total cross sections for electron capture by a proton from the ground state of the negative hydrogen ion. The obtained results are found to be in good agreement with experimental data for the inverse reaction H(1s) + H(1s) --> H+ + H- in the energy region from 25 to 60 keV.
