摘要
The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of chemical concentration and temperature on the diffusion of NaOH in the radial direction of spruce wood. The NaOH concentrations of the impregnation liquor were 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 M and the temperatures used were 300, 350 and 400 K. The results indicated that the rate of diffusion in the radial direction of spruce wood was in accordance with the general diffusion theory, directly proportional to the chemical concentration. Furthermore, the rate of diffusion was found to change as a function of temperature due to changes in the diffusion coefficient according to an Arrhenius type equation, i.e. D = D0 x e-3040/T for 1 M NaOH and a diffusion interval of 200-300 min.
