Repeated sequences of DNA from two sibling species of mosquitoes and a mosquito species from another genus were studied with the aid of reassociation kinetics, molecular hybridization in solution, blot-hybridization and restrictase analysis. It was shown that the content of all groups of repeats both in the sibling-species and in species from different genera is identical. The quantity of homologous sequences is disproportionately low in comparison with the low degree of divergence of the repeats in the sibling species and even species from different genera. With the aid of restriction analysis and blot-hybridization specific families of repeats were found not only in mosquito species from different genera but also in sibling species.
