BENZYL FERROCENYLMETHYLENEHYDRAZINECARBODITHIOATE AND ITS COMPLEXES WITH LANTHANIDES

The organometallic ligand derived from ferrocene, benzyl ferrocenylmethylenehydrazinecarbodithioate (HL) has been synthesized. A series of rare earth metal complexes LnL3 (Ln = lanthanide) were obtained by reaction of the ligand with LnCl3 in the presence of triethylamine in anhydrous ethanol. The data of elemental analyses, IR, UV, NMR, molar conductance, TG and DTA show that the ligand coordinates with Ln(III) in the thiol form with a molar ratio of 3 : 1. The complexes are non-electrolytes in methanol and DMF. The C-N bonds in the complexes became very strong and much more thermostable than that in ligand due to forming the chelate rings.
