Technological advances have made clinical photographs ubiquitous but the tremendous value of images is often burdened by concerns that are both legitimate and unsubstantiated. Compliant photos dramatically improve patient value and should be encouraged after adequate institutional preparation. As healthcare networks continue to transition to electronic medical records, clinicians and administrators should outline reasonable policies to integrate photos safely. (C) 2013 Elsevier Inc.
