SPATIAL STRUCTURES WITH NONZERO WINDING NUMBER IN BIASED DIFFUSION OF 2 SPECIES

摘要
Using Monte Carlo simulations techniques, we discover spatially inhomogeneous steady states with non-trivial winding around toroidal lattices with large aspect ratios, occupied by equal numbers of oppositely <<charged>> particles, diffusing under the influence of a uniform external <<electric>> field and the excluded-volume condition. Observing that those configurations are stable, we propose a novel mechanism for their stability. We find that the mesoscopic equations previously derived for this system admit solutions which correspond to such configurations.
