With the trucking industry's investment of money and effort into communications with its drivers and the potential advantages and cost savings of real-time traffic information, lying motor carriers into TRANSCOM's information network, has an exciting potential. This availability of real-time traffic information could aid the trucking industry by increasing the fleet productivity, improving customer service, improving the environment for their drivers, and reducing their costs, with an ultimate effect on their bottom line. These possible improvements as well as an American Trucking Associations (ATA) Foundation demonstration being carried out by TRANSCOM to quantify these improvements will be discussed.
