The heat wave of the summer 2003 will remain in climatic annals of Algeria like an exceptional weather event by its duration (nearly four weeks), by its intensity and its geographical extent. The last summers characterized by intense heats had touched only certain areas, but the summer 2003, it is practically the whole of Algeria which was touched, as well as most of Europe. Absolute records of maximum temperature on the majority of the weather stations of Algeria of North one beaten: Algiers Dar El Beida 41.8 degrees C, Chelif 42.7 degrees C, Bejaia 38 degrees C, Annaba 41 degrees C, El Kala 40 degrees C ... The duration of insolation was remarkably high, whereas pluviometry approaches that of the the least sprinkled summers second half of the twentieth century.
