BREAKDOWN FIELD IN HIGHLY ANISOTROPIC SUPERCONDUCTORS

摘要
One of the striking characteristics of the high-Tc oxides is that their coherence length along the c axis is shorter than the lattice parameter. We show that this feature is essential for the understanding of the magnetic behavior of these compounds. Vortices parallel to the c axis can become decoupled between adjacent CuO planes (or stacks of planes) by thermal fluctuations. Under sufficiently large fields (applied parallel to the c axis), these fluctuations lead to phase decoupling of the CuO planes and resistance is then restored. © 1990.
