Field Investigations carried out at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore on sandy clay loam soils in winter seasons of 1985-86 and 1986-87 revealed that irrigating frenchbean when soil metric potential at 15 cm depth reach -45 kPa resulted in higher growth, dry matter production, green pod yield and water use efficiency as compared to irrigations scheduled at -65 and -85 kPa. Nitrogen fertilization significantly increased growth, dry matter, green pod yield and water use efficiency.
